introducing King Gough

King Gough is so happy today! I think it's because he's no longer constipated... a serious and common illness amongst his kind.

He arrived in December 2003 when I chose the last gift at my office Yankee Swap. Some quick searching on google led me to the conclusion that my little King is a boy, and you can tell this by his long flowing red hair and beautifully scaled skin.

You will find the origins of King Gough's name are quite interesting. With his majestic little chin always up in that distinctly proud manner often seen in only the most royal and noble of families, you can see why he'd naturally enjoy the title of King.

Gough has several originations beginning with the Island of Gough in the South Atlantic. According to BowWow.com.au, the word "gough" actually means "red haired one". Thus it is not a coincidence that Gough is a variation on Gogh. The artist Van Gogh is well-known for what is referred to as his "Blue Period". Lesser known is Van Gogh's Red Period, an inspiration to all little kings. Finally, we can also attribute the origination of Gough's name to two common day phrases in the American English language. First, Stop and Go, "relating to, or involving frequent stops" seen in King Gough's frequent lack of movement or quick turning during swimming, and the red light in a traffic light (some people in the Boston area have mistaken this red light to mean go). Secondly, the beloved children's game of "Go Fish".

With the origination of King Gough's name in mind, I would like to invite you to cast your gaze upon him whenever you are in need of a little relaxation and the simple pleasure of watching his swishing red hair flow (video clip to come soon).
