so, i had an epiphany in the shower this weekend.
at first, it was that spiderman - the comic - has a secret anti-drug message... you know, with MJ (mary jane) being his girl.
then i realized, thats not it at all! its quite the opposite. spiderman has a pro-pot message, if any message at all.
allow me to explain...
peter parker has a fate, a destiny to fight crime and keep the streets safe as spiderman. but he has this desire, this lust for MJ (mary jane, aka marijuana). the trouble is, he feels too much obligation to his destiny, his true calling of saving the city. and he is unable to truely invest in his relationship with MJ.
MJ (aka marijuana) wants commitment (aka addiction). if she doesn't get it, there is no point in bothering with peter parker any longer. she doesnt want to compete with his strong will and commitment to his destiny, which she is kept in the dark about.
peter parker, spidey, realizes he can't keep these two worlds apart any longer or he'll lose either MJ or fall off his path of righteousness. MJ gives him an ultimatum. what will spidey do?
we know that peter parker searches his soul for the right answer. which should he choose? eventually, peter parker succumbs to his desire for MJ and reveals to her his destiny as spiderman.
MJ is happy to be with such a hero and has no objections. she has what she wants. and peter parker, through time, learns he can both have MJ and still fulfill his destiny as spiderman.
now, tell me this isnt laden with pro-pot messages. you can commit to pot and still fulfill your destiny.
what kind of message is this for children??? this is outrageous. we should boycott and ban spiderman comics. in fact, we should all come together to gather up all the spidey comics we can and have a comic burning!
no more spiderman costumes for halloween! no more pro-drug comics in our schools! no more spiderman underwear and tshirts!
